St. Paul Lutheran
Church, Peachtree City, Georgia, received an official certificate of
membership as part of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod on March 6,
1996. Preliminary efforts to establish the Church and School were led
by Rev. Ron Janssen and a small but dedicated group of people. They
met for their first church service on June 4, 1995. Their earliest planning
included efforts to first build a school and then a church. A call was
extended to and accepted by Gordon Stuckert to serve as the founding
principal of St. Paul Lutheran School. He was installed on November
3, 1996. A dedication ceremony and ground breaking for the property
of St. Paul Lutheran Church and School was held on March 16, 1997. A
first open house for the school was celebrated out among the trees under
a tent on June 7-8, 1997. Eight teachers for preschool through eighth
grades were called to serve, and classes began on September 2, 1997.
Unfortunately, our building was not completed. Classes were held from
September through Christmas break in seven portable classrooms in the
school parking lot with 52 children in attendance. Since January 1998,
our staff and students have seen many changes. Three of our teachers
left at the end of our first year, and we celebrated the wedding of
two members of our staff. The 1998-99 school year brought us three newteachers,
a media center that moved from acloset to ahallway, and a floor for
our gymnasium. In the 1999 2000school year, we celebrated the completion
of our second floor. This allowed the offices, the media center and
three of our classes to also move upstairs. Again we were blessed with
additions to our teaching staff. The 2000-01 year brought a change in
administration as Gordon Stuckert accepted a position with the Ohio
District; unfortunately, our media center specialist, Mary Stuckert,
went with him. We added a second kindergarten to our program. 2001-02
saw the installation of Dan Palisch as our new administrator as well
as the addition of a second first grade class and new teachers yet again.
We have been blessed with dedicated staff, church members, school families,
and friends of St. Paul who have worked with diligence to support our
mission here in Peachtree City, Georgia.
