What should I
expect if I visit?
Lutheran worship services are highly liturgical in nature, that is they
follow a very distinct ceremonial order that has been part of the Lutheran
worship heritage for centuries. The litergy is symbolic of a series
of beautiful exchanges between the living God and his people, the church.
As a congregation we repeatedly offer our sacrifices to God in the form
of prayer, song, confession, and praise. In return for our sacrifices,
God repeatedly blesses His congregation through the pronouncement of
His forgiveness, His Word (sermon), the eucharist, and formal blessings.
Even small, seemingly insignificant, details of the services have meaning
such as which direction the pastor is facing. Until you are familiar
with some of these subtleties, Lutheran services may seem awkward or
route. You will want to pick up a service bulletin as you come in. This
will help you follow along and participate because the entire service
is printed out for you.
Communion is observed
during the early and late services each week on alternating weeks. (during
early service one week and during late service the following week.)
We invite all Lutheran Church Missouri Synod church members to join
us for the sacrament. However, if you are new to the Lutheran church,
please visit with the pastor prior to communing. Official
Communion Statement
The St. Paul congregation
meets for worship in the St. Paul Lutheran School cafeteria until we
can build a permanent sanctuary. As such, services are not overly formal.
Typical church attire is appropriate. Men generally wear suits or dockers
with casual shirts. Women usually wear dresses or pants.
A loving nursery
is provided during services, but many families prefer to worship with
their children. We support which ever decision you make as a parent.
