What can I expect with my first visit?
We know that going to a new place can be intimidating and scary. How will I know where to park? Is there something for my kids? Where are the bathrooms? What should I wear? We’ve asked those questions too. Please know we will make every effort to make sure your first experience is worry free. We look forward to worshiping with you, getting to know you better, and providing you the opportunity to grow in your faith and walk with Jesus Christ.
We would be thrilled for you to visit us at St. Paul. We are known for our hospitality and we be honored by your presence. We refer to people who visit us as guests because "guest" means we expect you and we want you to be here. There are many ways we open our doors to guests. Worship is always a place where people not only see us, but see God as well, for His Holy Spirit is very active in our midst.
The St. Paul congregation gathers for worship in our “Worship Center” (also known as our school gymnasium.) Parking for our 1st time guests and those with mobility impairments are encouraged to park on our lower level parking lot. Overflow parking is located on the upper level to your right as you enter the parking lot. Follow the red “Guest” signs and they will take you right to the worship center. There is also a golf cart shuttle that will pick you up from the upper level and shuttle you to the worship center entrance,
What is worship like?
At every Sunday worship service you will have the opportunity to sing, pray, hear Biblical teaching and share in the Lord's Supper with us. Occasionally, there may be Baptisms during the service, or testimonies from individuals or missionaries. Each service is approximately 75 minutes in length. We have greeters and assistants at each worship service who are there to serve and assist you. If you have a question or need assistance, please ask!
We offer two different styles of worship on Sunday morning.
Our traditional worship (at 8:00am) is a liturgical format, following the different orders of service from “Lutheran Worship.” The music for traditional worship includes classic hymns along with new songs and hymns of the faith.
Our “contemporary” worship service (at 10:45am), follows a “blended/contemporary” style format. Music is led by our worship band and consists of songs from contemporary Christian artists.
Are my children welcome to worship with me?
Absolutely! Children are welcome to participate in our worship services and a special “Children’s Message” is offered at each service. A staffed nursery is provided during services for children up to age four, but many families prefer to worship with their children. We support which ever decision you make as a parent. In our 10:45am service, we offer an age-appropriate message for our kids ages 4-grade 5 during the sermon so both age ranges can learn from God’s word in an age-appropriate manner.
Are there classes for my kids?
Yes! We offer classes for kids ages 2 years old through 6th grade in our “Destination Discipleship” ministry. (Definition of DD)
Our 7th and 8th graders meet each Sunday morning for a topical bible study.
Our high school youth get together in the Youth Room for bible study, fellowship, social time, and to encourage/support one another.
What’s the “dress code?”
We believe that God is more interested in your heart than what kind of clothes you wear. At St. Paul, you'll see a wide variety of clothing. Some people choose to "dress-up," some wear business casual, while others may dress more casual. Please know, however, that we are more concerned that you are joining with us in worship, rather than your style of dress. Choose some comfortable clothes and come see us!
Are there Adult Bible Studies?
Yes! We have Adult Bible Studies each Sunday! A complete list of our current Bible Studies can be found on this site and in our worship announcements and all the rooms are “color coded” for easy identification. We also have Women's Bible Studies and small groups that meet throughout the week.
What about Holy Communion?
Communion is observed during the 8:00am service every 1st and 3rd Sunday. Communion is offered at the 10:45am service every 2nd and 4th Sunday.
Holy Communion is for those in our church body who believe as we do in this Sacrament of the Altar. We believe it is the true body and blood of Jesus Christ, in, with, and under the bread and the wine, given for the forgiveness of our sins. For information on our communion practice, please see our communion statement
Am I expected to participate in the offering and communion?
The offering is for those who are part of the St. Paul family. Instead of wanting you to give something, we want you to get something from your time at worship. And, that is a feeling of acceptance at our church and a closer glimpse of God.
Will I be contacted by St. Paul?
On your first visit, we understand you may want to lay low and observe as you get your bearings on this new place. At some point, our staff would love the opportunity to meet or talk with you personally. If you'd like someone to follow up with you, you can fill out a worship card during the worship service.
If it’s been a long time since you’ve been to church, we would love to welcome you back! There’s already enough you have to think about when you’re visiting a church for the first time. We hope that getting some of this “stuff” out of the way not only encourages you to join us for church, but also helps you to connect with the hope and encouragement that God has for you.
