OUR STUDENTS CREATE

EXPRESSING CREATIVITY THROUGH ART

Starting with Kindergarten, our students begin identifying the color wheel, learning lines and shapes. Each grade level subsequently builds from here and ends with creating a collaborative piece of art, drawing with shading, 1-point perspective, and painting still life. These creative and fun lesson plans follow National standards for Arts Education.

However, in middle school art is offered as an elective along with drama and chorus. Led by our 8th grade teacher Mrs. Spieler, art students study and create art work based on the elements and principles of art. We focus on color, line, shape, space, value, texture, and balance. Students also learn about artists that tie into the elements and principles that we are learning about.
